Intelligent Transportation Systems in Work Zones – A Case Study: Work Zone Travel Time System
Abstract:This case study is one in a series of documents that examines the use of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in work zones. It reports reducing congestion with the use of a Traffic Management Contract Incentive during the reconstruction of Arizona state Route 68. More information on applications of ITS in work zones is available in the companion document, Intelligent Transportation Systems in Work Zones – A Cross-Cutting Study (Report No. FHWA-OP-02-025, EDL# 13600). This case study presents information gathered through interviews with key personnel on the Arizona State Route (SR) 68 project in Kingman, Arizona, as well as information and photographs obtained during a site visit.
