This report discusses intervention strategies to prevent road worker fatalities and injuries due to motor vehicles. The report is divided into the following sections: Pedestrian workers struck by traffic – hazard interventions related to the pedestrian worker, the motorist, and work zone planning, design, implementation, and oversight; Pedestrian workers struck by construction vehicles – hazard interventions related to the pedestrian worker, construction vehicle operator, work zone planning, design, implementation, and oversight and construction vehicle design, safety features, and maintenance; Construction vehicle operator/occupant events – rollovers, collisions, ejections and falls from moving vehicles, and struck by falling objects; and Other hazards – control of hazardous energy sources while cleaning, repairing, inspecting and maintaining equipment and construction vehicle contact with utilities.
