KDOT Offers Phone Application

Author/Presenter: Anderson, Phil
Abstract:

In order to provide the traveling public with up to date information concerning road conditions, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) launched an enhanced 511 mobile application on the 511mm.ksdot.org web site. The site is accessible from iPhones, Droids and Windows mobile devices. The site displays updated camera shots of various roadways in six regions across the state and three metropolitan areas so motorists can visually determine a safe route. The National Weather Service in Topeka has been working with KDOT on 511 mobile and KanDrive, the KDOT traveler information gateway for Kansas and surrounding states, to ensure the consistency and accuracy of weather and travel information.
