Truck-mounted attenuator (TMA) has been used as a countermeasure to help improve safety in mobile work zones. However, 139 TMA crashes occurred in Missouri from 2012 to 2017 with distracted driving being cited as one of the main reasons. This article provides a summary of the MoDOT project that assessed the effectiveness of green lights on TMAs and discusses the efforts taken.
