Maryland Highway Work Zones Rack Up Speed Camera Violations

Author/Presenter: Halsey, Ashley
Abstract:

The speed cameras put in place to protect workers in work zones issued about half a million tickets last year in Maryland, worth of $18.9 million. The work zone ticket program has generated some controversy among drivers. Maryland legislators will hold a hearing on proposals that would limit speed camera use in work zones to hours where workers are present and prohibit the use of speed cameras for the purpose of increasing revenue.
