MDOT Uses Twitter to Reach Thousands During I-75 Shutdown
Abstract:The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) used the social messaging service Twitter to communicate with thousands of travelers in the aftermath of the July 15 tanker truck crash and explosion on Interstate 75, in Hazel Park, near Detroit. MDOT posted short updates or tweets during the shutdown, urging motorists to avoid the area and to use the detour information provided.
