MoDOT Crews Prioritizing Pothole Repairs Through Spring
Abstract:The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is prioritizing statewide pothole repair efforts during the spring season, using both public reports and historical data to identify high-risk areas. Potholes form due to freeze-thaw cycles that weaken pavement, combined with traffic loads that accelerate deterioration. In 2025, MoDOT repaired over 650,000 potholes across its 34,000-mile network, and approximately 300 crews are deployed this season to respond quickly to new reports. The agency also incorporates innovative safety measures, including connected vehicle technology that provides real-time alerts to drivers, and encourages the public to report potholes through multiple channels to support timely maintenance and improve roadway safety.
