More Protection Needed for Flaggers, Workers Say
Author/Presenter: Fuller, JamesAbstract:
Construction workers tinkered on equipment along the Route 53 construction zone Tuesday afternoon. A few hours earlier a motorist claimed the life of one of their co-workers. They expressed anger at drivers complaining about construction stretching on for months, but unwilling to slow down to permit workers to concentrate on the job rather than traffic. Traffic moving in excess of 60 mph continued to whip through the 45 mph construction zone Tuesday even as the investigation into Deborah Wead’s death began. Signs alerting motorists to slow down were still posted – even though officials halted work at the site for the day.
