New Work Zone Safety Public Service Announcements Feature Real-Life Experiences From ARDOT’s Own Employees

The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) has released a series of work zone safety public service announcements (PSAs) as part of its Slow Down, Phone Down campaign. Featuring firsthand accounts from injured workers, witnesses to work zone fatalities, and an Arkansas Highway Police sergeant, the videos provide personal perspectives on the consequences of unsafe driving in work zones. The campaign emphasizes slowing down, avoiding distractions, and protecting both roadway workers and the traveling public. From 2021 to 2024, Arkansas experienced a 36 percent reduction in work zone crashes, fatalities, and suspected serious injuries, highlighting progress while underscoring the continued need for work zone safety awareness.
