ODOT Wants to Reduce the Speed Limit in Temporary Construction Zones
Author/Presenter: Farkas, KarenAbstract:
The recent deaths of Randy Roginski and Eric Kirkbride, two Ohio construction workers, have caused a great deal of concern for the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). Both workers were struck and killed in work zones that were set up properly. ODOT is investigating ways that can reduce speeds in temporary work zones. Although the investigations into the deaths of Roginski and Kirkbride have not yet revealed if speed was necessarily a factor, ODOT believes lowering speed limits in temporary work zones is the only remaining option to get motorists to slow down and pay attention in work zones, especially at night.
