Oklahoma Department of Transportation Honors Late Worker Leonard Stroyick, Advocates for Work Zone Safety

Author/Presenter: Myers, Jordan
Abstract:

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) commemorated the 60th anniversary of the death of Leonard Stroyick, a District 8 employee who was killed in the line of duty on May 25, 1965. In a reflective social media post, ODOT honored Stroyick’s memory and used the occasion to emphasize the ongoing importance of work zone safety. The message urged drivers to slow down and remain vigilant in construction areas, reminding the public that “behind every cone is a life.” The tribute serves as both a memorial and a call to action, highlighting the shared responsibility of ensuring roadway worker safety.
