OSHA Releases Proposed Heat Safety Rule
Abstract:The article discusses OSHA’s proposed heat safety rule, introduced in July 2024, which aims to protect workers from heat-related illnesses in indoor and outdoor environments. The rule includes temperature-based triggers (80°F and 90°F) that require employers to provide cool water and implement additional safety measures. It also mandates the creation of a Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Plan. Despite industry concerns about flexibility, the proposal moves forward, with a 120-day public comment period to follow.
