PennDOT, PA. Turnpike Getting Ready for Winter Roads by Adding Green Lights

Author/Presenter: Stamm, Dan
Abstract:

PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike are enhancing winter road safety with $75 million in upgrades, including green lights on snow-clearing vehicles to improve visibility under Act 78. Officials emphasized preparation and safety for winter travel, supported by a $186 million budget for operations, 728,000 tons of salt, and over 4,700 workers. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, maintain safe distances from plow trucks, and ensure their vehicles are winter-ready. PennDOT also offers job opportunities for those interested in contributing to winter road safety.
