Podcast: Mississippi DOT’s State Maintenance Engineer

Heath Patterson, state maintenance engineer for the Mississippi Department of Transportation, discussed the origin and purpose of the State Equipment Operators Roadeo on MDOT’s “Extra Mile” podcast. The event, focused on vehicle and equipment handling skills, offers employees a chance to improve techniques through friendly competition. Winners from Mississippi’s 2024 Roadeo will advance to the regional competition in North Carolina. The event has grown since its inception in 2003, expanding from Arkansas to include 13 states.
