Rhode Island Department of Transportation Launches 511 System to Report Potholes

Author/Presenter: Moeder, Nicole
Abstract:

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) has launched a new 24/7 pothole reporting hotline and online dashboard to improve the identification, tracking, and repair of potholes on state roads. Drivers can report potholes by calling 511, and each report is displayed on an interactive map that shows repair status in real time. RIDOT will use the system to monitor response times and coordinate maintenance activities more efficiently, with field crews providing updates through mobile devices. The initiative aims to increase transparency, improve roadway maintenance, and encourage public participation in reporting roadway conditions.
