Road Workers Wearing Bodycams Due to Verbal Abuse
Abstract:Road workers in Jersey have begun wearing body cameras following incidents of verbal abuse at road closure sites, according to Ronez and Pallot Tarmac. The companies described the behavior from some residents as “disgraceful,” noting that while many members of the public have shown support, a minority have threatened and intimidated staff, at times requiring police involvement. Officials defended the timing of a six-week summer roadwork project, citing reduced school traffic, while company leaders stressed that the safety measures were necessary to protect workers carrying out essential infrastructure improvements. The initiative highlights growing concerns over abuse faced by road crews despite the long-term benefits of the projects.
