Roadway Construction “Caught-In” Series: Entangled in Equipment and Machinery
Abstract:According to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), “caught-in” or “caught-between” hazards are one of the leading causes of death and injury in the construction industry. This fact sheet provides guidance on “caught-in” hazards within the transportation construction industry, specifically covering hazards surrounding entanglement in equipment and machinery. Topics covered include categories of entangled exposure, hazard assessment and prevention measures, and a control measure checklist. Paired with the additional instructor information, the fact sheet may be used as a guide for a toolbox talk for workers on entanglement as a caught-in hazard.
