Savino Work Zone Safety Bill, with Criminal Penalties, Passes Senate Unanimously

Abstract:

State Sen. Diane Savino’s bill to establish the crime of vehicular assault and vehicular manslaughter in an active work zone was passed unanimously in the Senate.   The bill amends the Vehicle and Traffic Law by elevating work zone intrusion to a class B misdemeanor, with fines ranging from $250-$500 and a possible three-month prison sentence.
