Time to Toughen Work-zone Penalties

Abstract:

Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s proposed legislation for increasing fines and penalties in work zones must be passed and signed into law as quickly as possible. The motoring public must change the way they view road construction and the men and women who are in the work zones simply doing their job. Gov. Blagojevich realizes how serious this issue has become. The IRTBA applauds his efforts to bring this to the public’s attention. Calling for a task force of transportation officials from around the state to form recommendations on solutions is a sound idea.
