Trimble and Purdue University Collaborate to Improve Highway Work Zone Safety
Author/Presenter: Holan, MarkAbstract:
ARTBA members Trimble and Purdue University are partnering to develop a slowdown alert service that notifies commercial drivers to help reduce rear-end crashes, particularly in highway work zones. The service will interpret planned routes against real-time traffic incidents and slowdown patterns, and deliver visual and audible in-vehicle slowdown alerts to drivers using Trimble’s commercial navigation and driver trip planning apps. The service is expected to be available by the end of June.
