Vermont Lawmakers Question Slow Rollout of Speed Cameras for Work Zones
Author/Presenter: Cutler, CalvinAbstract:
Vermont lawmakers are expressing frustration over delays in a pilot project to install speed cameras in construction work zones, a program approved following the death of a construction flagger. The initiative, intended to launch in three locations during summer 2025, is currently on hold due to a shortage of law enforcement resources. Legislators argue the project is essential for evaluating whether speed cameras can effectively change driver behavior. The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) plans to present its recommendations to the Legislature in 2026.
