West Virginia DOH to Build Memorial to State Highway Workers Killed on Job
Abstract:State of West Virginia’s Division of Highways (DOH) is planning to build a memorial at the Williamstown Interstate 77 welcome center to honor all of its highway workers who have died on the job. The idea for the memorial was originated from the death of Randy Bland, a DOH employees who was fatally struck and killed last year in a work zone. His co-workers wanted a way to honor him.
The memorial is expected to have 100 to 150 names. To be included, the person must have been employed part- or full-time by the Division of Highways, the Department of Highways or the State Road Commission and his or her death must have been from a work-related accident or injury.
