Widow Requests Tougher Law for Reckless Driving

Laurie Moser, the widow of a Middletown state highway worker killed while on duty, along with two other victims of crashes in highway work zones testified on a bill sponsored by Frederick Delegate Galen Clagett, a Democrat, at the hearing before the House Judiciary Committee. Clagett’s bill calls for a fine up to $1,000 and a prison sentence of up to 90 days for those who recklessly drive and contribute to an accident in a work zone. The bill was supported by the Maryland Department of Transportation but opposed by the Maryland Office of the Public Defender.
