Legislation Aims to Teach New Drivers How to Navigate Work Zones

This episode of the Talking Michigan Transportation podcast discusses proposed Michigan legislation that would require work zone safety education as part of driver education courses beginning in 2027. House Bill 5767 would require driver education students to complete a work zone safety course developed in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Transportation and approved by the Michigan Department of State. The episode features discussions with representatives from the American Traffic Safety Services Association and Work Zone Safe about advocating for the legislation, implementing work zone driver training requirements, and efforts to advance similar initiatives in other states.
