Work Zone Safety – Breaking News: It’s Life or Death Illinois – IDOT

There are over 4,500 work zone crashes each year in Illinois. Many result in life-threatening injuries and death for workers, first responders, the drivers and their passengers, and even innocent bystanders and fellow drivers. Please, slow down and pay attention and obey all traffic laws, whether workers are present or not. Driving responsibly really is a matter of life or death.

Life or Death Illinois is a campaign developed by the Illinois Department of Transportation to promote safe driving habits and to educate on the danger associated with careless driving habits such as drinking and driving (Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over), seat belts (Click It or Ticket), motorcycle safety, pedestrian and bicycle safety, distracted driving, and work zone safety.
