Work Zone Safety “Frank” – Life or Death Illinois – IDOT

Frank was killed while working in a work zone on I-294 in Cook County, Illinois. A lifelong fan of Chicago sports and karaoke, Frank was a son, brother, father and friend who was only 59 when he was killed.

Each year there are over 4,000 crashes in Illinois work zones. Whether workers are present or not, please, slow down and be aware. In construction and work zones, driving responsibly really is a matter of life or death.

Life or Death Illinois is a campaign developed by the Illinois Department of Transportation to promote safe driving habits and to educate on the danger associated with careless driving habits such as drinking and driving (Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over), seat belts (Click It or Ticket), motorcycle safety, pedestrian and bicycle safety, distracted driving, and work zone safety.
