CDOT Launches New Safety Initiatives

Abstract:

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Colorado State Patrol have launched new initiatives to reduce traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries by 22.5% by 2027. A key strategy includes the Speed Safety Camera Program, which will enhance safety in construction zones, reduce congestion, and protect law enforcement officers and CDOT crews. Additional efforts focus on motorcycle safety, encouraging helmet use, enforcing impaired driving laws, and adjusting speed limits. While preliminary data shows a 5% decrease in overall traffic fatalities in 2024, motorcyclist and construction zone deaths increased significantly, prompting further safety measures.
