Abstract:This document provides an overview of various decision-support tools that have been developed to aid transportation professionals in planning and evaluation activities related to work zone safety. This includes agency-specific policies and guidelines, decision trees and flowcharts, and a series of predictive tools that can be used to proactively assess the costs and benefits associated with various work zone safety strategies. These tools are useful for planning-level activities, as well as in support of work zone process reviews, which state highway agencies are required to conduct every two years based upon federal regulations in 23 CFR 630 Subpart J.
