Expansion of “Move Over” Law July 1 Extends Protections to Highway Workers and ITD Responders

Effective July 1, the “Move Over” law will be expanded in Idaho to include responders to a roadside emergency, such as highway workers. The existing law from 2006 requires motorists to move over for law enforcement personnel operating with flashing lights. The “Move Over” law expansion not only protects ITD’s highway workers, but also tow operators at an incident.
