INDOT Implements New Roadway Worker Safety Initiative: Project Greenlight

INDOT’s new Project Greenlight initiative is equipping highway workers with Guardian Angel wearable safety lights to improve visibility and worker safety in low-visibility conditions. Following a pilot launched in fall 2025, approximately 375 green safety lights will be distributed statewide for use by Highway Technicians and Hoosier Helpers, particularly during nighttime operations and inclement weather. INDOT says the lights can increase worker visibility to motorists and encourage drivers to slow down and move over in work zones.
