Maryland Transportation Officials Promote “Move Over Law” After Crashes Into Workers

Maryland transportation officials are reminding motorists to follow the state’s Move Over Law after a State Highway Administration emergency response technician was struck and injured while responding to a crash on Interstate 270. The incident follows the deaths of two SHA workers in April while performing roadway duties. The law requires drivers to move to another lane when possible and slow down when approaching stopped vehicles on the roadside, including emergency, maintenance, construction, and disabled vehicles. Violations may result in citations and fines.
