MDOT Considers Using Drones to Monitor Road ConditionsAuthor/Presenter: Shabad, Alex
Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is considering using drones to monitor road conditions. MDOT thinks there is a lot of potential in these unmanned aerial vehicles which include improving safety for construction workers and saving time for drivers. MDOT has completed an 18-month study on drones. MDOT could begin an application process with the Federal Aviation Administration early next year, but the drones would not likely be put to use for several more years.
