The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) are deploying digital message boards mounted on maintenance trucks to improve safety in work zones. The signs alert drivers to slow down, move over, and remain attentive as they approach roadside crews. ODOT and Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials emphasize that driver attention and compliance with traffic laws remain essential to protecting highway workers. From January through July 2026, Oklahoma recorded 880 work zone crashes, highlighting the continuing need for increased driver awareness and enforcement.
