Thruway Authority and Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee Launch Statewide PSA Campaign to Promote Move Over Law, Combat Distracted Driving

The New York State Thruway Authority and Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee launched the “They Trust You” statewide public service campaign to promote compliance with New York’s Move Over Law and combat distracted driving. Funded by a $250,000 highway safety grant, the campaign uses television, streaming, social media, and digital platforms to remind motorists to slow down, move over, and remain focused when approaching stopped vehicles, work zones, and emergency responders. The campaign highlights the risks faced by highway workers and first responders and emphasizes the human consequences of unsafe driving, particularly among younger motorists.
