Traffic Scotland Launches Roadworker Awareness Campaign

Author/Presenter: Borras, Kevin
Abstract:

This article reports on a new safety campaign launched by Traffic Scotland in response to a rise in dangerous incidents involving vehicles entering active road work zones. It highlights how increasing driver impatience and noncompliance with traffic control measures, such as ignoring red lights, cones, and signage, are putting road workers, drivers, and passengers at significant risk. The piece emphasizes the critical role road workers play in maintaining Scotland’s road network and underscores the potentially severe consequences of even a single vehicle breaching a closed worksite. Statements from representatives of Amey and Traffic Scotland reinforce the importance of adhering to traffic management systems, urging drivers to exercise caution, patience, and respect to ensure the safety of all road users and workers.
