Traumatic Occupational Injury Research Needs and Priorities, A Report by the NORA (National Occupational Research Agenda) Traumatic Injury Team
Abstract:The purpose of this report is to “present a broad framework of the objectives and research needed to begin filling the gaps in knowledge and furthering progress toward safer workplaces and practices.” It “provides a reference and structure for traumatic occupational injury research.” This paper provides background information including statistics and implications of occupational injury, methodological issues to be considered so that research may be effectively advanced, and a framework of research objectives and needs. This framework includes the following steps: surveillance, analytic injury research, prevention and control, implementation, and evaluation. Finally, conclusions and a bibliography are included.
