Two MaineDOT Workers Killed in I-95 Construction Zone Crash in Waterville
Abstract:Two workers from the Maine Department of Transportation were killed and a third was injured after a crash in a construction zone on Interstate 95 in Waterville, Maine. According to Maine State Police, a minivan driver failed to stop at a temporary stop sign at the end of a southbound on-ramp during bridge construction and attempted to merge onto the interstate, where the vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer. The impact pushed the minivan into the work zone, striking three road workers and forcing two of them off the bridge. Authorities closed portions of the interstate and nearby roads while responding to the crash, which remains under investigation. Officials and state leaders emphasized the dangers faced by highway workers and urged drivers to slow down and remain alert in work zones.
