Vehicle Intrusion Warning System in Work Zone Within Vehicle Infrastructure Integration Environment
Author/Presenter: Zhu, Xiaodong; Fan, DongnanAbstract:
Because expressway work zones for maintenance often need lane closure, it will result in road capacity bottleneck and impact the stabilization and safety of expressway operation. To ensure the safety of maintenance workers in the expressway work zones, the intelligent vehicle intrusion warning system (IVIWS) is designed with communication technology applicable to vehicle-road. And the information acquisition subsystem, the information disposal and decision subsystem, and information release subsystem of IVIWS are constructed. The system describes vehicle track by analyzing the real-time data of traffic detectors and a short-term prediction of vehicle track is carried out. IVIWS establishes early warning mechanism, and sends alerts to vehicles and people at the same time. The experiment result shows that IVIWS can effectively improve the safety of expressway work zones.
