Virginia Work Area Protection Manual
Abstract:The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has published a complete revision of the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual effective September 1, 2019. This manual replaces the previous issue of the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual dated May 2005. This Manual is Part 6 of the Virginia Supplement to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) 2009 edition and either meets or exceeds the requirements for temporary traffic control established by the Federal Highway Administration. Sections 6F.55 Steel Plate Ahead Sign and 6G.15 Steel Plate Conspicuity and Warning provide guidance on how to install temporary steel plates in work zones.
