Toward Zero Deaths: Minnesota DOT Selects Sensys Gatso for Work Zone Safety Pilot
Author/Presenter: Borras, KevinAbstract:
Sensys Gatso Group is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) on an $800,000 Work Zone Safety Camera Pilot Program designed to reduce speeding and improve safety for roadway workers and motorists. The pilot will deploy mobile, solar-powered FLUX speed safety cameras on Interstate 35W in Burnsville and Highway 65 between Cambridge and Braham. Rather than issuing citations or fines, the program will send educational warnings to vehicle owners traveling at least 10 mph over the posted work zone speed limit. MnDOT will evaluate driver engagement, speed reductions, and behavioral trends to assess the pilot’s effectiveness.
